Building daily habits is really good for your mental health. It helps you get things done and create a routine so you don’t live in chaos. It can also boost your confidence because you feel productive. Here are 4 practices I developed a year and a half ago that helped me feel better about myself:

  • Meditation

Meditation is famous for its benefits for the mind, body, and overall well-being. I do it at least once a day for 5–10 minutes. Usually, the longer the meditation, the better, but even 5 minutes a day can be beneficial for the mind. There are different types of guided meditations that I like to use based on what I need to do during the day. There are some for feeling energized, for relaxation, for concentration, for self-esteem, for refocusing, creativity, and so on. Based on your mood and what you have to do, you can choose the best time of day to meditate.

  • Physical activity/Pilates

Physical activity is very important for our well-being. In our everyday lives, we rarely have time to do a full workout or go to the gym, so it’s important to take a 15–30 minute break for some physical activity. For me, that is Pilates. It works for me because it helps awaken my muscles and body, making me feel energized for the rest of the day. Plus, it boosts my confidence by reminding me that I’m taking care of my body and physical appearance.

  • Reading/Learning

I believe that learning and reading can significantly improve a modern problem that people rarely discuss—lack of concentration in completing various tasks. In today’s digital age, many of us find ourselves endlessly scrolling through social media and watching short videos, which can drastically reduce our attention span. This distraction often leads to difficulties in focusing on and completing our everyday responsibilities. Additionally, reading can help combat the effects of constant distractions. By setting aside dedicated time for focused reading, we gradually strengthen our ability to concentrate. The process of navigating through a text encourages mental discipline and reinforces the habit of being present, which can translate into better focus in other areas of our lives.

  • Socialising

Becoming more social is a skill that can be developed just like any other. Whether you’re more introverted or extroverted, practicing social skills makes it easier to form connections that can positively impact other areas of your life. Engaging in social settings builds confidence, refines communication abilities, and creates opportunities in both personal and professional arenas. In today’s digital age, many people feel increasingly isolated, but making time for face-to-face interaction, even through small conversations, is a powerful way to nurture mental well-being.

Incorporating daily habits into your routine can be a transformative journey toward improved mental health and overall well-being. By prioritizing these habits, you’re not just enhancing your productivity; you’re also nurturing your self-confidence and creating a more joyful, connected existence. Start today—your future self will thank you!
